Planks are an all over body workout, but they especially target your lower abdomen. Try to hold this position for 1 minute, and repeat 3-4 times. As you get stronger, try to increase the amount of time you hold the plank for.
This exercise helps shape the lower back area, which can be a problem area for a lot of us! Just lay flat on your stomach with your hands out in front of you and then use your lower back muscles to lift up your legs and arms simultaneously. To really get a good workout in, do 3 sets of 15 reps!
This exercise will really burn in your middle and lower abdomen. Use your core muscles to lift your upper body up to meet your legs into the shape of a V. Shoot for 3 sets of 20!
This is another exercise that will really work your lower abs! Get into the plank position and then alternate running your legs back and forth, up into your chest. Act as if you are climbing a mountain! Do 3 sets of 30 reps (15 on each side).
This is a fun twist on a normal crunch and it really works your obliques! Instead of sitting straight up, like you would in a crunch, bring one knee in and touch it to the opposing elbow. If you can’t make them touch yet, that’s okay! It gives you something to work towards. Alternate legs and arms in a bicycle-like motion and do 3 sets of 30 reps (15 on each side).
